Catching Underpayments Against Your Fee Schedule

Catching Underpayments Against Your Fee Schedule (MyTherapyWizard help article card)

Owners report Medicaid managed care plans paying below the published fee schedule with no explanation. Short payments are easy to miss when ERAs are posted in bulk.

🪄 In MyTherapyWizard

  1. Enter each payer's expected allowed amounts in Payer & Codes › Rates.
  2. Post ERAs in ERA/Payments (automatic or manual).
  3. Work the Partial pay section of Needs Action. A payment below the expected amount is flagged, and you can add a payment note that is tagged to the client for a lasting history.
  4. In ERA/Payments, filter by payer and export to CSV or PDF to document a pattern of short payments.
  5. Appeal or resubmit from the claim, and track patterns in Analytics › Denials and Business Health.

💡 Why it matters: a few dollars per visit across hundreds of visits is real money, and a payer-level pattern is the evidence you need to escalate.
