About MyTherapyWizard - MyTherapyWizard help article card

The back story

MyTherapyWizard was created by Stephanie Wick, OT/L, M.S., a pediatric occupational therapist with more than 25 years of experience in public schools, charter schools and private practice, and managing director of Learning Charms occupational therapy services. It began as O.T. Wizard and became MyTherapyWizard as it grew to serve more disciplines, settings and ages.

The problem it solves

Therapists in every setting face pressures that take time away from direct care:

  • Declining reimbursement and stalled wages as Medicaid and commercial fee schedules shrink
  • A growing administrative burden from insurance and school documentation requirements
  • Paperwork and compliance demands that spill into evenings and weekends
  • Limited access to research-based evaluation and outcome tools

MyTherapyWizard gives that time back, so therapists can focus on helping clients participate in daily life at home, at school, at work and in the community.

Development history

  • 2019, initial development. O.T. Wizard began as an effort to build better assessment tools for pediatric therapists, producing automated preschool screenings and evaluations that improved on checklist-style templates.
  • Research validation. After more than 7,000 screenings and evaluations, the data underwent Rasch analysis. The assessments showed sensitivity comparable to standardized tools such as the Beery VMI and Peabody tests, with significantly shorter administration time.
  • 2022 to 2025, rebuild and testing. The platform was rebuilt from the ground up, and a pilot group of therapists tested versions 1.0 to 2.0 over two years.
  • Today. MyTherapyWizard is a clinical intelligence EMR for therapists in clinics, schools, home health and academic programs, serving clients from early childhood through adulthood. It is available now for occupational therapy, with physical therapy, speech-language pathology and mental health launching.

Clinical evidence

In a 6-week pilot (September 2025), therapists completed more than 500 comprehensive evaluations:

  • Authorization rate: 499 of 500 evaluations (99.8%) received prior authorization, compared with a 20% denial rate the year before using traditional methods.
  • Clear documentation: evaluations combined objective and subjective data that met medical necessity standards.
  • Clinical utility: therapists used about half of the suggested goals in their plans of care.

Research foundation

MyTherapyWizard is built to align with:

  • The ICF and ICF-CY (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health)
  • Rasch measurement principles for psychometrically sound assessment
  • State education (DPI) requirements and IDEA
  • Health insurance clinical coverage policies
  • HIPAA and FERPA

Our mission

To give therapists structured, defensible documentation and outcome data with less paperwork, so every client gets more of their therapist's time.

Built on structured, scored results

MyTherapyWizard is an EMR with clinical protocols built in:

  • Guided Evaluations are scored with structured scoring: the same criteria, rules and performance bands for every client.
  • The plan of care is generated from that evaluation, with goals linked to the baseline.
  • Once the plan of care is active, its goals populate into your session notes. Each goal gets a Goal Performance Index (GPI) that combines accuracy with the support needed, so 70% independent and 70% with maximum assistance score differently. Each session gets a Session Performance Index (SPI), the average of its GPIs.
  • Reports draw from these scored results plus the comments and narratives you wrote. AI only helps with wording. It never changes a score, and you approve every line.
