If your practice bills insurance through MyTherapyWizard, this step connects billing. It sets up the payers, codes and rates that flow into eligibility checks, authorizations, claims, ERA's, and invoices.
Before you start
- Who does this: the account Admin or Admin Lite (billing lead).
- How long it takes: 1 to 2 hours, plus time for payer enrollment.
- Plan needed: Teams with the Billing add-on, and an active ClaimMD account.
- Have ready: your ClaimMD login, your payer list, the procedure codes you bill by discipline, your contracted rates and your therapist pay rates.
Billing add-on features: some options described here only appear, or only take effect, when your team has the Billing add-on enabled. Without it, they're hidden or turned off. The billing features are powered by ClaimMD, which needs its own ClaimMD account and subscription (separate from MyTherapyWizard).
๐ฃ Step 1: Connect ClaimMD and load your insurers

- Open Practice Settings โบ Payer & Codes.
- On the Insurers tab, click Sync from ClaimMD to bring in your payers, or Add insurer to add one by hand.
- For each insurer, check its label, whether it's in-network, and which services it supports: eligibility, claims and ERA. Enroll req. means you need to complete payer enrollment in ClaimMD before that service works.
๐ฃ Step 2: Set up codes and rates

Work through the tabs from left to right:
- Procedure Codes: turn on the codes you bill, by discipline. Star your most-used codes.
- Bundles: group codes that are usually billed together.
- Rates: enter what each payer pays per code.
- Direct Pay and Direct Pay Rates: set up private-pay and contract billing.
- Pay Rates: enter what you pay each therapist, which drives payroll reports.
- Non-Procedure Codes and Modifiers: add any you use.
๐ฃ Step 3: Check the rest of billing
Once payers and codes are in, the rest of the billing menu is ready to use: Consents & Eligibility, Provider Orders, Authorizations, Claims, ERA & Payments, Accounting and Analytics. The Billing Set Up articles walk through each one.
๐ก Why it matters
In MyTherapyWizard, billing is fed by the same clinical intelligence as everything else. Signed session notes, authorizations and plan-of-care limits all connect, so claims are built from what actually happened in therapy, and problems show up in Needs Action before they become denials.
โ
How you'll know it worked
- Your insurers show with the right network status and services.
- A signed session note shows a procedure code and appears in billing readiness on My Worklist.
- A test eligibility check returns results from ClaimMD.
